ILOILO City – Twelve persons were arrested in Barangay Sta. Rosa, Guimbal, Iloilo following a shooting that left one man dead and two others wounded.
Murder, frustrated murder and illegal possession of firearms charges will be filed against them, said Superintendent Peter Naboye, chief of the Regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (RCIDU).
The person who died in the Friday afternoon shooting was Elias Bilbao. His two nephews were wounded – Jake Centena, 21, and Edelberto Centena.
According to Naboye, the RCIDU was scheduled to implement a search warrant issued by Judge Domingo Diamante of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 67 on Bilbao for unlicensed guns on Friday.
“But before we could serve it, shooting erupted,” said Naboye.
There was an exchange of gunfire between the Bilbao house and the nearby house of Annabel Geal Davo, said Naboye.
The Bilbao and the Geal families have a long-running land dispute.
Bilbao died of a gunshot wound on his back, said Naboye.
The 12 persons now in the police’s custody are Davo, June Pabilario, 23; Paulito Sebialino, 25; Cris Sucayan, 29; Jerson Bayda, 25; Daneil Lacson and a 17-year-old lad, all of Barangay Calumpang, Molo, Iloilo City; Redan Dajay, 18, of Barangay Baldoza, La Paz, Iloilo City; Generoso Diasnes, 29, of San Rafael, Iloilo; John Elavela, 31, of Lapuz, Iloio City; Rodolfo Zamora, 24, of Molo, Iloilo City and John Adio, 44, of Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Naboye said his men also search Davo’s house after learning that it, too had unlicensed firearms and explosives.
The RCIDU recovered a .45 caliber pistol, four magazines for a .45, 23 ammunitions for a .45, a handcuff, a black holster, and a magazine pouch for a .45.
