BACOLOD City – The Himamaylan City police are looking for unscrupulous individuals roaming Barangay Carabalan, collecting P50 from residents for monetary aid or availing of the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) Livelihood Program.
On Wednesday, Vice President Sara Duterte issued a public warning on this.
“Reports from Himamaylan, Negros Occidental said certain individuals are allegedly collecting money supposedly in exchange for OVP services. This is a scam. Report activities like this to the police station or any local authorities,” read part of the OVP’s official announcement.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Reynante Jomocan, Himamaylan City police chief, said they are actively searching after receiving a report from Punong Barangay Mildred Titolar about an alleged scammer’s recent activities.
The city police also urged victims to report.
The OVP-Bacolod satellite office has released a statement that the office of city mayor Raymund Tongson is probing the incident as well. (Watchmen Daily Journal)
