ILOILO City – Over P1.6 million worth of shabu were seized from six drug suspects in two separate operations in the city and province of Iloilo.
Yesterday, at 6:45 a.m., an estimated 125 grams of shabu valued at P850,000 were recovered in Barangay Poblacion South, Oton, Iloilo.
Taxi driver Darry Lamson, alias “Bogs”, 49, of Barangay Gustilo Dike, La Paz, Iloilo City, was a high-value suspect and the main target of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RDEU-6).
Lamson admitted getting his supply from Barangay Desamparados in Jaro, Iloilo City, according to Police Captain Glenn A. Soliman of the RPDEU-6.
His three other suspected companions in the sale of P10,000 worth of shabu to a police poseur buyer were Kate Nacita, 29, and John Nacita, 32, both of Barangay Sooc, Arevalo, Iloilo City; and Bonnie Nacita, 32, of Barangay Dulonan, Arevalo.
The four were arrested after several days of transactions following information that the group had just gotten their stock from their source in Iloilo City, according to Major Rommel Anicete, RDEU-6 chief.
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old house helper was rescued from the suspects and is now in the custody of Oton Municipal Social Welfare and Development.
On Wednesday, at 8:50 p.m., the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Iloilo City Police Office collared two suspects for 120 grams of shabu valued at P816,000 in Barangay Sto Niño Sur, Arevalo.
Wynnlee Jaena, 49, of Barangay Democracia, Jaro, and Era May Calopez, 23, of Barangay North Baluarte, Molo, Iloilo City, were detained at the Arevalo Police Station.
A .22 revolver with five live rounds were also recovered from Jaena.
According to Police Captain Roque Gimeno III of CDEU, they conducted an operation after a drug suspect, who was arrested in La Paz district last month, tagged Jaeena as one of the sources.
“”May asset kita nga kilalala ang aton targets amo to nag-conduct kita buy-bust operation kag natigayon nga nadakpan sa isa ka motel,” Gimeno said.
The suspects reportedly sourced their stock in Roxas City on Sunday and had already disposed of some.
All six suspects will be charged with violations of the Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Another charge, a violation of RA 10591, will be slapped against Jaena for possessing an unlicensed firearm.
Meanwhile, Police Regional Office 6 director Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor said the two drug operations had a good impact in Western Visayas.
“This huge success was with the coordination of all units concerned and of course with the help of the community. Tulong-tulong po tayo para mapagtagumpayan ang laban natin sa iligal na droga at iba pang kriminalidad sa ating rehiyon,” he said./PN
