AKLAN – Police are honing in on two suspects and possible motives in the shooting of a 43-year-old man on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
Motorcycle-riding gunmen killed Marte Dalida, a resident of Barangay Venturanza, Banga.
The deadly shooting occurred at around 11 a.m. along the barangay road in Barangay Libas, Banga.
“The police continue to review CCTV (closed circuit television) to identify the suspects. The victim sustained approximately six gunshot wounds,” said Banga Police Chief Captain Benny Jones Mendoza.
Police believe that Dalida, who was involved in the buying and selling of livestock, had agreed to meet with the unidentified suspects at the location.
The shots were fired at close range, according to Mendoza.
Dalida was found lying along the side of the road and was positively identified by his youngest son and sister-in-law.
The suspects reportedly fled towards the adjacent barangays of Agbanawan and Lapnag. Investigators also recovered empty cartridges at the scene, which have been sent to the criminal laboratory for ballistic testing.
Police have shared CCTV footage showing two men wearing motorcycle helmets; one of the suspects was wearing a red helmet, a red jacket, and black pants.
Although the motives for the fatal shooting remain unclear, police are following leads related to the victim’s “troubling cases.”
Dalida was a “person of interest” in a hacking incident in Barangay Calizo, Balete, on Oct. 8.
