Cops storm ‘Kingdom’ but fail to nab Pastor Quiboloy

MANILA – Religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy slipped through the hands of authorities who raided the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) Compound in Davao City on Monday morning to serve a warrant of arrest.

About 100 soldiers and policemen in full battle gear were deployed outside the compound at Buhangin District at 5 a.m. but they were met with a barricade of supporters of the KOJC founder.

Police Regional Office 11 ‘s Public Information Office chief Major Catherine Dela Rey said Quiboloy and five other individuals who are also the subject of the arrest warrant were not found inside the compound.

“(The Philippine National Police) served three warrants of arrest against Quiboloy and five others issued by (the Regional Trial Court) of Davao for acts of child abuse, other sexual abuses and issue(d) ng Pasig court for (violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2000,” Dela Rey said in a statement.

“This action is based on the lawful order of the court and due process to address these serious charges,” she added. “Supporters and followers of KJC are urged to remain calm and cooperate with the ongoing implementation of court processes.”

Dela Rey, however, stated that, although there was resistance among the supporters “at first,” the authorities were still able to serve the arrest warrants “peacefully.”

Quiboloy has a warrant of arrest from the Davao Regional Trial Court Branch 12 for violating Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law, specifically the provision on sexual abuse of minor, and maltreatment.

Aside from Quiboloy, also issued arrest warrant for the same case are Jackielyn Roy, Cresente Canada, Paulene Canada, Ingrid Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes.

Quiboloy also has a separate arrest warrant from a Pasig court for qualified human trafficking charges under Section 4 (a) of Republic Act No. 9208.

Apart from these criminal cases, an arrest order for Quiboloy issued by the Senate panel on women headed by Sen. Risa Hontiveros had also been released./PN
