ILOILO City – Eighty police officers assigned in the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) headquarters, Camp Delgado, were called for a “surprise” random drug testing on Feb. 3.
The testing was conducted at the crime laboratory.
Fifteen Police Commissioned Officers and 65 Police Non-Commissioned Officers were randomly picked to undergo drug testing, said Police Lieutenant Colonel, regional public information officer of the PRO-6.
The unannounced check wanted to ensure that no policeman engaged in illegal drug use.
This was the second round of “surprise” random drug test for the year 2020. The first random testing was on Jan. 10 to 14, where the results released on Jan. 28 showed all of those tested were negative for illegal drugs, said Malong.
The drug test complied with the aggressive campaign against illegal drugs which wais part of the internal cleansing program of the Philippine National Police.
It was administered by the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 6 under Police Colonel Enrique Ancheta.
“As promised, more of this kind of test will be conducted,” said Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, regional police director./PN
Randomly picked? Why do other government agencies have mandatory (100%) drug testing for their personnel???
