ILOILO City – Police have tightened the protocols at the three wharves in Guimaras to avoid the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the island province.
Guimaras Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Pablito Asmod, said this was the order of Gov. Samuel Gumarin, who is wary of the rising number of COVID-19 cases not just in the island province but also the rest of Western Visayas.
According to Asmod, those who will go to the island province but will return to Iloilo City before the day ends should submit themselves to the usual protocols at the wharves while those who will stay overnight in Guimaras should present proof they are clear from the viral illness.
To recall, Gumarin issued Executive Order No. 63 series of 2020 adopting the enhanced Level 2 Response of the Guimaras COVID-19 Response Initiative effective Aug. 10.
Under the enhanced Level 2 Response, only the wharves in Buenavista and Jordan towns are the points of entry to the island province.
“Alarming ang pagdamo sang local transmission sang virus sa mga kaiping naton nga mga lugar diri sa Western Visayas. Kinahanglan naton anay hugtan liwat ang aton mga protocols agud maproteksyunan ang mga Guimarasnon,” Gumarin said.
Guimaras had 4 active cases of COVID-19 as of Aug. 10./PN
