Cops trap street-level ‘pusher’ in Silay sting

SILAY City – A street level drug suspect was arrested in a buy-bust operation of the police on Gomez Extension Street, Barangay 4 here.

The 29-year-old Raymond Tabago was a resident of Bonifacio Street, Barangay 4.

In an entrapment operation carried out at around 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 15, cops seized from the suspect nine heat-sealed plastic sachets of what was believed to be shabu weighing 10 grams.

The seized items had an estimated street value of P68,000, said Police Major Rollie Pondevilla, acting police chief of Silay City.

Also recovered were the P3,500 buy-bust money, P770 cash, and a black belt bag.

Tabago was detained at the Silay City police station.

He faces a charge of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 which mandates the State to “pursue an intensive and unrelenting campaign against the trafficking and use of dangerous drugs and other similar substances through an integrated system of planning, implementation and enforcement of anti-drug abuse policies, programs, and projects.”

The law, however, reminds the government to “aim to achieve a balance in the national drug control program so that people with legitimate medical needs are not prevented from being treated with adequate appropriate medications, which include the use of dangerous drugs.”

It is further declared the policy of the State to provide effective mechanisms or measures to re-integrate into society individuals who have fallen victims to drug abuse or dangerous drug dependence through sustainable programs of treatment and rehabilitation./PN
