Cops warned vs illegal gun discharge

ILOILO City – Police officers across  Western Visayas are warned that they will be facing dismissal from service if they indiscriminately fire their guns during the New Year celebration.

Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, told over 13,000 police personnel in the region that since there’s no taping of gun muzzle, they should be responsible and know when to use their guns.

“Since hindi na tayo nag-muzzle taping ng kanilang baril, we trust them na hindi nila gagamitin sa pag-celebrate ng New Year. Alam na nila ang consequences kung gagawin nila especially in using trouble, they will face dismissal from the service if proven guilty,” Francisco said.

The region’s top cop is calling on the community to report if a police officer violates the order especially if someone gets killed or injured because of their illegal act.

“Police officers are all professional, so I trust them that they have to follow my order. Police personnel should serve as role models to the civilians by adhering to policies not to illegally discharge their firearms. Their career here is at stake as they might face administrative case if they will be caught firing their guns,” Francisco said.

He is also warning civilians who will be caught firing guns that they, too, will face criminal charges.

Hindi lang pulis but also gun holders especially kung homemade ang kanilang baril, they have to face criminal case,” Francisco added./PN
