Cops wary of criminals as city schools reopen

ILOILO City – Students, be mindful of your belongings and valuables in school or while commuting to school.

Parents, watch over your children in school, especially those in kindergarten and elementary.

“The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is doing everything it can to secure students but we also remind parents to monitor their children,” said Police Colonel Martin Defensor, city police director.

The ICPO is wary of lawless elements victimizing students as classes in public elementary and high school resume today.

Defensor said force multipliers – village watchmen, barangay officials and volunteers – would be helping the police maintain peace and order.

Across the city near schools, transport terminals and other areas were people converge the ICPO has Police Assistance Desks manned by two police officers.

The maximum police visibility aims to discourage criminals from striking such as snatchers, pickpockets and swindlers, said Defensor.

“We have also undercover policemen moving around,” he added./PN
