Correction is not revision

INDEED, when something is corrected it simply means a wrong is righted. On the other hand, to revise means to change or alter and not necessarily to correct a wrong.

And we’re going to debunk some myths that eventually led to that utter nonsense celebrated every Feb. 25.

Every time the “devotees to the cult of the yellow ribbon” now dyed pink mention in revered tones the so-called “spirit of EDSA” somehow it never fails to bring a sudden urge to either throw up or laugh. Probably both.

There is no “EDSA Revolution” as a true revolution is a complete change of systems and form of government.

There is no “miracle on EDSA”. Perhaps the only miracle was that Filipinos were duped into believing that Cory Aquino was the “saint” that would deliver the Philippines from the clutches of the “evil empire” into the promise land. Of course we all know that nothing of that sort happened.

What really happened in EDSA, or Camp Crame to be exact, was a mutiny of then Defence Secretary Juan Ponce Enrile and Philippine Constabulary chief Fidel Ramos. The so-called heroine of EDSA was not even there for the whole duration of the mutiny.

Cory Aquino was hiding in a convent in Cebu and only came out when she learned that then President Marcos left Malacañang.

Perhaps the miracle there was how she manoeuvred herself and snatched the presidency from the true leader of the opposition, Salvador Laurel.

This nonsense begun with the so-called 1971 Plaza Miranda bombing with then President Marcos Sr. as the convenient culprit who ordered it. With no internet then, there was no way we could verify if Marcos was indeed the one who ordered it.

Years later eventually the truth came out. It was CPP/NPA/NDF founder and demi-god, the late Joma Sison, who ordered the bombing of Plaza Miranda.

Excerpts from Philippine News Agency articles:

CPP founder Jose Ma. Sison is the mastermind in the 1971 Plaza Miranda bombing that left nine people dead and more than 90 others injured, one of CPP’s founding fathers said.

In a documentary produced by Sambayanan, CPP founding member Ruben Guevarra tagged Sison as the one who gave orders to throw grenades at the said gathering.

“The Plaza Miranda bombing was only a part of a series of campaign done by the CPP. This is part of what we call Oplan Big Leap Forward,” recalled Guevarra, who was also then part of CPP’s Central Committee.

In a Washington Post article in August 1989, it claimed that the CPP leadership decided to carry out the attack as part of their efforts to push the country to the brink of a revolution as they thought the Plaza Miranda bombing would force Marcos to conduct a crackdown against his opponents.

With this scenario, they thought it would drive thousands of political activists to go underground, making it easier for insurgents to recruit and arm more fighters.

When martial law was declared Joma Sison and other top CPP/NPA leaders were either captured or eliminated, breaking the back of the insurgency and because of this EDSA nonsense, Cory Aquino released Joma Sison to revive the moribund insurgency.

Another myth is that Ninoy Aquino was a “hero”. Of course he’s not, just an opportunistic politician who had actually done nothing for the Philippines except to promote himself and his presidential ambitions.

His so-called assassination was another self-serving plot that went awry. Of course he died bearing a Malaysian citizen passport with the name “Marcial Bonifacio”.

It’s quite obvious that the insurgency is the result of the collaboration between Ninoy/Cory Aquino and Joma Sison to push their mutual ulterior motives.

Fortunately a Rodrigo Duterte became president and created the holistic or whole of government approach with the NTF-ELCAC to stop this more than 50 years insurgency and it worked with almost all the CPP/NPA fronts crumbling and the thousands of surrenderees’ everyday.

Now all that’s left of the “revolution” are the “useful idiots” living the fantasy of their aging pseudo communists’ professors in the University of the Philippines. (brotherlouie16@gmail.com)/PN
