ILOILO City – Councilor Candice Tupas celebrated her birthday on Thursday, Jan. 18, through her birthday special project – “Ang Kasadyahan Pangkabataan” – benefitting 80 children with special needs from the city’s seven districts.
Around 200 to 300 people, including teachers and parents of the kids, gathered to celebrate with the city councilor and her family.
The beneficiaries and other participants were treated to Jollibee Chicken Joy meals, games and prizes. Jollibee mascot was also present to entertain the kids.
“Gapasalamat ako for making time para sa akon birthday. Salamat sa akon husband (Lex Tupas) kay abi ko hindi ini madayon. Ginhambal ko nga amo ni akon birthday wish sang last year nga makaupod kamo,” Tupas said.
The city councilor also expressed gratitude to those who made her special birthday project a success.
“Thank you CSWDO (City Social Welfare and Development Office), TAWAG Center, Special Projects Team of my office, to Lex for making sure this project pushes through as it is my wish to make it happen, Jollibee, and to Kumpare Jomari for always helping us make more people happier. We put a smile on the faces of the special kids,” Tupas said.
She added: “I was teary eyed when I delivered my message, when I was helping distribute food and when I was talking to the kids, their parents and their teachers. Lex was right to say during his speech that it is hard and challenging but because of the love for the kids, their parents and the teachers conquer obstacles to be able to help the special kids reach their utmost potential.”/PN
