DUMANGAS, Iloilo – A couple and a relative fell into a dragnet conducted by the police here in Brgy. PD Monfort North.
Arrested were Pedro Divino, 43, his wife Florence, 33, and their relative Norman Jabatan, 25, all of the said place.
The operating team led by Senior Insp. Jonathan Pinuela conducted the buy-bust operation against the suspects around 2:30 p.m. in Friday.
The police recovered from them 25 grams of shabu worth P150,000 and cash amounting to P7,590.
According to Pinuela, the spouses were high-value targets who have been under surveillance for a long time.
He said they were the suppliers of Calao Barangay Captain Teopisto Gomez, 56, who was arrested on May 2 in a drug operation together with Judy Demafilez, 35, and Michael Libo, 30, both of Brgy. Ilaya; and Mark Jason Diamante, 22, of Brgy. Poblacion.
Pinuela said, “We found it hard arresting them because they were very choosy in dealing with prospective victims.”
The police chief expressed gratitude to the community that had been helping in their mission to corner the couple.
Going back to the arrest of Gomez, Pinuela recalled that the operating team had recovered six sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia, P2,850 cash, an M16 rifle and a caliber .40 pistol./PN
