ILOILO City – For possessing unlicensed guns and illegal drugs, a couple fell into a police dragnet in Barangay Jardin, Dumangas, Iloilo around 9 a.m. yesterday.
Job Han Delu-ao, 29, and wife Sarsie, 24, were detained at the Dumangas police station and faced a string of criminal charges.
Considered “high-value” suspects, the two were arrested in a buy-bust operation in their house, said Senior Insp. Charlie Sustento, Dumangas police chief.
After the suspects sold a sachet of shabu to an undercover policeman, cops recovered five more sachets of shabu, Sustento said.
The police also recovered a .38 revolver, a homemade .45 handgun, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
“The couple used their house as a drug den,” Sustento said.
Barangay Jardin is one of the drug-affected villages in Dumangas, he added.
Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas, Iloilo police director, recently identified Dumangas as one of the three illegal drug “hotspots” in the province. It has a sea port which is reputedly a transit point of the illegal drug trade. The other two towns are Pototan and Sara.
In another story, a drug pushing suspect was arrested in Boracay Island on Sunday.
Aklan police director, Senior Supt. Samuel Nacion identified the suspect as Beboy Trompeta, 32, of Sara, Iloilo.
Trompeta yielded seven sachets of shabu.
Now detained at the police station in Malay, Aklan, Trompeta told the police the drugs came from northern Iloilo./PN
