ILOILO City – A live-in couple was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Zone 1-B, Barangay Calumpang, Molo district around 12:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 11.
Pedicab driver Arthur Deocadiz Jr., 40, and Emily Taroja, 39, a vendor, were residents of the place.
The operation was conducted by the Iloilo City Police Station 4 (Molo PNP)-Station Drug Enforcement Team.
A police poseur buyer bought a sachet of suspected shabu from the suspects for P8,000.
Three additional sachets of suspected shabu were found in their possession, weighing approximately 16 grams and valued at around P108,800.
Police Captain Benjie Dicen, chief of Molo PNP, said they have been monitoring the suspects for over three weeks.
The two had no records on illegal drugs but Deocadiz was reported to be responsible for throwing stones on the roofs and vehicles passing by their area, added Dicen.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Police Office director Colonel Joeresty Coronica told Panay News he commends all the unit commanders for their accomplishments.
“I want to commend all our unit commanders tungod sining mga sunod sunod nga mga remarkable accomplishments nga gina-conduct naton sa ICPO para masigurado naton nga ang problema naton sa illegal drugs ma-address,” said Coronica.
Deocadiz and Taroja are currently in the custody of the Molo PNP and will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
