ILOILO City – Court operations nationwide will be shortened today, with work ending at 3 p.m. to allow employees to participate in the observance of “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga” Day.

The Supreme Court issued a memorandum suspending the work starting at 3 p.m. today to allow employees to share meals with family, emphasizing the importance of family bonding through shared meals.

By giving workers time to spend with their families, the government aims to promote family unity and togetherness across the country.

Malacañang has issued Memorandum Circular No. 64 suspending work in government offices under the Executive branch from 3:00 p.m. onwards today, Sept. 23, in observance of National Family Week.

“This Office also encourages all government workers in the Executive branch to fully support the programs and activities relative to the observance of Family Week, as organized by the National Committee on the Filipino Family,” the MC stated.

“The suspension of work in other branches of government, independent commissions or bodies, and the private sector are also encouraged, to afford all Filipino families the full opportunity to celebrate the 32nd National Family Week,” it added.

The suspension, however, excludes agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness and response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services, as they shall continue their operations and render the necessary services.

MC 64 is by Proclamations No. 60 (s. 1992) and No. 326 (s. 2012), which designates the last week of September as Family Week and the fourth Monday of September as “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga” Day, respectively. MC 64 was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin on Sept. 12, which took effect immediately./PN
