ILOILO City – In Western Visayas, the number of deaths due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) now stands at 323.
The Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 recorded seven new deaths over the weekend.
Bacolod City has the highest number of deaths so far at 112, followed by Iloilo City (73) and Negros Occidental (60).
Iloilo province recorded 45 deaths, Capiz 24 and Aklan seven.
The provinces of Antique and Guimaras still have one death each.
As of Sept. 10, the total COVID-19 cases in the region reached 4,253 (3,849 active, 9, 244 recovered).
As to the disposition of active cases, 75.58 percent are asymptomatic, 18.03 percent are mild case, 4.70 percent are severe cases while1.53 for verification.
COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus. This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China in December 2019.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough.
Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell./PN
