ACTRESS Iza Calzado, who was one of the first high-profile cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVD-19), has resumed taping.
Calzado shared the development on Monday, as she expressed solidarity with her embattled home network ABS-CBN, whose franchise renewal is being heard in Congress.
She posted a photo of her at what appears to be a set, with creative staff and cameramen.
“In my 8 years as a Kapamilya, I have come to know the people who work in it from the ground up. Yes, there are many areas we can improve on but all we ask is to be given a fair trial and verdict, one that is consistent with prior rulings and aligned with the peoples’ needs at this time,” she wrote.
“Despite all the challenges thrown their way, ABS-CBN continues to fight for stability in our country, through distribution of important information, fundraising efforts and the provision of jobs for us even when it seems impossible to do so as seen here with our team going back to taping today.”
Calzado did not mention which program she is taping for.
She was introduced as a lead cast member in the teleserye “Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin,” which was originally due to premiere in March 23.
The airing of the ABS-CBN series was postponed in light of the coronavirus lockdown, which signaled the industry-wide production halt.
Calzado announced being positive with COVID-19 on March 28. She has since made a full recovery.
Filming, under the eased lockdown measures on Metro Manila, are allowed but with strict safety protocols that include pre-shoot quarantine, “lock-in” shoots, and prohibition of big crowd scenes.
“Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin” was slated to be aired on ABS-CBN, the free-TV channel that has since been forced shut by the government.
ABS-CBN programs currently air via cable on Kapamilya Channel.
In her statement on Monday, Calzado urged the government to be “fair in their dealings,” and to “stay in touch with what the people need right now.”
“In my opinion, ABS-CBN has also demonstrated enough service and goodwill to our country that deserves them of a second chance towards any transformation they need to make,” she said. (ABS-CBN)
