ILOILO City – The community transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from the Iloilo Fish Port Complex in Barangay Tanza, City Proper and a call center in Mandurriao district has been contained, claimed Jeck Conlu, spokesperson of the city government’s COVID-19 team.
He cited the “decreasing trend” in cases of COVID infections traceable to the fish port and call center: 21 cases on Aug. 16, six cases on Aug. 17 and 14 cases on Aug. 18.
“Sa bag-o nga ginpang-contact trace naton kag ginpang-swab, hopefully wala na sang may magdugang pa,” said Conlu.
On Aug. 17, 645 persons were swabbed or extracted with specimens for COVID-19 testing.
Conlu said the “surgical lockdown” of neighborhoods and communities helped put a brake on COVID community transmission.
“Aggressive ang aton city government sa mando ni Mayor Jerry Treñas nga mang-lockdown dayun bisan damu ang against kag nabudlayan,” said Conlu.
Assiduous contact tracing covering several barangays helped, too, he added.
“Ginpadamo man ang quarantine facilities para makuha ta sa ila mga barangays ang mga positive cases. Wala na sila chance nga maka-infect sa iban,” said Conlu.
Yesterday, the COVID-19 team recommended the total lockdown of Barangay Rizal Estanzuela in the City Proper.
Here is the status of several barangays:
In Lapuz district:
* Sinikway – four cases, 15 households in Block 4 on lockdown
* Mansaya – four cases, strict home quarantine, lockdown of households with confirmed cases
* Bo. Obrero – six cases, surgical lockdown of homes in Zone 1, 10 households affected
In Jaro district:
* Tacas – NIA Compound only, surgical lockdown
* Quintin Salas – surgical lockdown
* Benedicto – strict home quarantine of confirmed cases only
In Mandurriao district:
* Bolilao – strict home quarantine of new cases
* Taft North – strict home quarantine of new cases
In the City Proper
* Sto. Rosario Duran – strict home quarantine
* Pala-Pala 2 – extended lockdown
In Molo district:
* San Juan – extended lockdown
