ILOILO City – Central Philippine University Golden Lions clinched the ILOPRISAA Meet 2019 elementary boys football crown. It defeated PAREF-Westbridge, 4-0, in the finals yesterday at the University of San Agustin.
Seth Ethan San Felix and Jan Michale Alba converted two goals each for the Golden Lions to finally notch the throne after finishing runner-up the last two years to PAREF-Westbridge.
Right at the start of the finals, the Golden Lions was on point with its offense, with San Felix converting two early goals to put his squad on top, 2-0, after the opening half.
CPU tightened its defense further in the second half. PAREF-Westbridge was unable to have a decent shot before Alba iced the win with two consecutive shots.
Serving as head coach for the Golden Lions’ elementary football team was Jorge Belosillo with Nathaniel Taala, Rex Robles’ and Edwin Caro Laru-an as his assistants.
On their way to the championship round, CPU ousted Assumption School of Iloilo, 2-0, behind twin conversions by San Felix.
In secondary boys football, facing the semifinals round were CPU Golden Lions and PAREF-Westbridge, and Ateneo de Iloilo against University of San Agustin./PN
