CPU Golden Lions rule volleyfest in Bacolod

CENTRAL Philippine University Golden Lions captured the 2nd Brother’s Cup Volleyball League 2018 women’s open category title on Sunday night at the University of St. La Salle gym in Bacolod City.

Led by Glaudine Trongcoso, the CPU collegiate team scored 30-28, 25-20, 25-23 over Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts in the one-game finale.

The Golden Lions had to rely on the exploits of Trongcoso late in the sets to clinch the victory.

Aside from Most Valuable Player awardee Trongcoso, also part of the CPU team under head coach Tony Arnilla were Sharice Coscuella, Dessa Mae Puyo, Gabby Ledesma, Jolina Torres, Danika Galilia, Daniela Louis Eguico, and Sam Sevillo Serrano.

On their way to the championship round, the Golden Lions made a quick work of the University of St. La Salle college team while the Thunderbolts ousted USLS-B in the other semifinals match.

In the men’s category, USLS captured the championship by defeating the Bee Transport Service All-Star team. USLS’ Herold Parcia was hailed as MVP.
