CENTRAL Philippine University Golden Lions and Mandurriao Lagman dominated the Iloilo leg of the Wilson 3×3 Basketball Challenge on Saturday at the PAREF-Westbridge School for Boys gym in Iloilo City.

Led by Victor Demadara, Christian Caturas, Elcyd Pascual, and Jose Glen Cudo, the Golden Lions clinched the championship in the 19 and Under category by beating the Ninjas, last year’s titlist.

Prior to this, the CPU quartet dominated the field by defeating all their elimination round opponents all the way to their counterparts in the semifinals.

Meanwhile Mandurriao Lagman – comprising John Benedict Java, Ed Sardia, Nikko Buendia, and Carl Emman Ilisan – bagged the 13 and Under crown by edging out University of San Agustin.

San Agustin, meanwhile, ruled the 10 and Under category, defeating PAREF-Westbridge in the final round.

The champions will represent Iloilo City in the Wilson 3×3 Basketball Challenge national level in May 2019 in Metro Manila, tournament head organizer Tobee Diaz de Leon-Abad said.

Prior to the Iloilo City leg, the Wilson 3×3 Basketball Challenge also held qualifiers in Bacolod City on Sept. 8, Roxas City on Oct. 20 and Antique on Oct. 27./PN
