CPU prevails over Doctors’ in ILOPRISAA college hoops

CENTRAL Philippine University moved up to solo first place in the 2018 Iloilo PRISAA tertiary men’s basketball with an 89-81 win over Iloilo Doctors’ College on Friday at the Western Institute of Technology gym in Iloilo City.

Antonio Llanza led the way with 20 points while Miguel Cyrene Sasuman added 19 markers for the Golden Lions, which surged ahead in the standings with a 2-1 win-loss slate.

John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, for its part, recovered from its opening-day defeat with an 86-50 domination of WIT, which skidded to 1-2.

Fritchard Dulce top-scored with 19 points while Christian Jeff Alabe added 12 points for John B., which suffered from a close 56-70 loss to CPU on Wednesday.

In elementary, defending champion Hua Siong College of Iloilo and University of San Agustin cruised to 3-0 starts, while PAREF-Westbridge tallied its second straight win.

Hua Siong hardly broke a sweat as it cruised to a 78-15 win over St. Joseph School with Jake Guarra leading the way with 14 points.

San Agustin, on the other hand, handed Assumption Iloilo its first loss 76-23 behind the 21 points of Chad Cartel.

PAREF-Westbridge scored a follow-up to its opening-day victory as it crushed Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus 60-21. John Ramiel Edang was the high point man with 14 points.

In other results, Iloilo Doctors’ College (2-1) walloped Santa Isabel College of Iloilo (0-3) 69-22 while CPU entered the win-column after a 45-18 rout of Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus (0-3)./PN
