DEFENDING champion Central Philippine University Golden Lions and Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts will banner the Bingawan Volleyball Girls Secondary Champions Season 13 from May 9 to 12 in Bingawan, Iloilo.
CPU will bank on the likes of last year’s Best Server Adrianne Celiz, Best Receiver Chrisann Susbilla and Best Libero Pearl An Denura in hopes of retaining its title.
Thunderbolts, on the other hand, will rely on reigning MVP awardee Shane Carmona, Best Blocker Joan Marie Monares and Best Attacker Alyssa Bertolano in its retribution bid.
Out from Thunderbolts’ lineup was last year’s Best Setter Marianne Sotomil, who was set to move to the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons next month.
Also participating in the three-day tournament are Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu Lady Magis Eagles and the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Champions.
“We expect this year’s event to be as successful as last year,” Mayor Mark P. Palabrica told Panay News.
Bingawan has been holding the volleyball games every May since 2005.
“This is the most-awaited sports event in Central Panay every summer,” Palabrica said./PN
