MANILA – Creamline Cool Smashers made a short work of the Bali Pure Water Defenders, 25-8, 25-19, 25-14, to remain undefeated in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the San Juan Arena.
Alyssa Valdez tallied 18 points, on 14 attacks and four service aces, to go along with eight excellent receptions on Saturday night.
The Cool Smashers ended the first round of elimination with an 8-0 win-loss slate.
Jessica Galanza chipped eight markers on top of seven excellent digs while Julia Morado made her return from one-game absence to distribute 14 excellent sets.
Save for the tight second set, the Cool Smashers were never threatened by the Water Defenders with the former establishing early leads before preventing the opposition from coming close.
“It’s really important for us to be confident going into the second round kasi all the teams are starting to jell, starting to gain experience, nagsa-start silang mag-click na together,” said Morado.
Menchie Tubiera finished with 10 points, five excellent receptions and three excellent digs while Graziella Bombita added nine markers as the Water Defenders dropped to 2-5.
In the first game, PacificTown–Army Lady Troopers arrested their three-game losing skid at the expense of the Chef’s Classics Lady Red Spikers, 25-18, 25-18, 25-13.
