BACOLOD City – The alleged leader of a criminal group operating in southern Negros Occidental was arrested in a raid at Jaime Subdivision in Barangay San Jose, Sipalay City.
The 58-year-old resident Joelito “Agi” Epugon was detained in the lockup cell of the Sipalay City police station.
According to the police, Epugon and his underlings are responsible for robbery, gun-for-hire and gun-running activities in the province.
Epugon was arrested around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday after officers from the Sipalay City police station served him a search warrant issued by Judge Edwin Gomez of the Regional Trial Court Branch 77.
Recovered from Epugon’s house were a KG-9 submachine gun with magazine, a .357-caliber revolver, a handheld radio, and several bullets of M16 and M14 rifles and other firearms, police said.
Epugon was facing charges for his alleged criminal activities and violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
