Crime surge seen as ‘ber’ months start

ILOILO City – The start of the “ber” months is also deemed to be the start of the holiday season in the Philippines.

Crimes usually surge on these months – September, October, November, December – but according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), Western Visayans need not worry because policemen are ready.

Police visibility will be maximized especially in places where people converge to discourage lawless elements from striking, according to Police Major Mary Grace Borio, the PRO-6 spokesperson.

Common street and petty crimes that could increase in frequency are robbery, theft, burglary of unattended houses, mugging, swindling, and street gang violence.

She urged people to be vigilant at all times.

“Basta ‘ber’ months na gani damo kwarta sang tawo. Ang nga kriminal amo na ila ginatutukan, kun paano sila makapanunto, maka-take advantage sa aton mga pumuluyo,” Borio said./PN
