ILOILO City – A suspect in a frustrated murder case became a victim of frustrated murder himself.
Two motorcyclists riding in tandem shot Elbert Manimbayan, 31, in Barangay Dawis, Zarraga, Iloilo.
Manimbayan was repairing his car in front of his house when the motorcyclists opened fire. He sustained wounds on his shoulders and abdomen.
Manimbayan was taken to the Iloilo Mission Hospital in Iloilo City.
Witness Rosemarie Manimbayan, relative of the victim, told police probers she saw the shooting but had no way of identifying the gunmen because both wore full-face helmets.
Four empty shells of a .45 pistol were recovered from the crime scene.
Senior Superintendent Cornelio Salinas, Iloilo police director, ordered the Zarraga police to conduct an investigation and identify the suspects.
Manimbayan has a pending criminal case for frustrated murder in the municipality of Cabatuan. He is deep in debt, too.
Manimbayan was reportedly arrested last month for the crime of frustrated murder but was released after posting bail./PN
