MANILA – Chery Tiggo Crossovers secured a seat in the PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference quarterfinals after a 29-27, 15-25, 25-22, 25-21 victory over Farm Fresh Foxies in the Play-in round on Tuesday night at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Victonara Galang led the way with 20 points, comprised of 16 attacks, three blocks, and one service ace, to be named Player of the Game as the Crossovers topped Pool B with a 2-0 record.

“Masaya kasi nakapasok na kami sa quarterfinals, pero hindi pa nagtatapos dun. Kailangan pa naming manalo, kailangan pa naming magtrabaho,” Galang said in a post-game interview.

“Pare pareho lang kami ng mindset, na hindi kaming puwede matalo. Kaya nung nagkaroon kami ng setback, bumawi kami sa next set kasi hindi pa naman dun natatapos, and thankfully nakuha namin,” she added.

Ma. Shaya Adorador also shone brightly, contributing 18 points, which included 16 attacks, one block, and one service ace, while fellow Ilongga Princess Anne Robles added 13 points for Chery Tiggo.

Trisha Tubu led the Foxies with 22 points, supported by Jolina dela Cruz, Rizza Cruz, and Lorene Toring, each contributing 12 points as they bowed out from quarterfinal contention.

Meanwhile, ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles pulled off a stunning 19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 15-12 victory over Cignal HD Spikers to move closer to a quarterfinals seat.

Chinnie Arroyo tallied 20 points, including 18 attacks and two service aces, to be named Player of the Game as the Thunderbelles surged on top of Pool A with a 1-0 win-loss slate.

Ilongga Glaudine Trongcoso led the way for the Thunderbelles with 21 points, including 15 attacks, four service aces, and a block, while Thea Gagate and Michele Gamit contributed 16 and 13 points, respectively.

The Thunderbelles, however, will need to win against the also-ran Capital1 Solar Energy Solar Spikers on Thursday night to formalize their entry in the quarterfinals, where they will be up against the Petro Gazz Angels./PN
