MANILA – Chery Tiggo Crossovers survived a third set challenge from NxLed Chameleons for a 25-16, 25-20, and 25-23 sweep in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference on Saturday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Victorinara Galang posted a double-double of 11 points and 11 excellent receptions to earn the Player of the Game honors as the Crossovers cruised to a 2-0 start in Pool A action.
“Syempre happy ako na nakapag-contribute ako sa team para manalo. ‘Yun naman din ‘yung gino-goal ko, so, yun, super happy,” Galang said in a post-game interview.
Khat Bell once again led the way for the Crossovers with 21 points on 19 attacks and two service aces to go along with 10 excellent digs in the straight-set victory.
Jasmine Nabor tossed 12 excellent sets, while rookie Karen Verdeflor showcased her defensive prowess to end up with 10 excellent receptions fof Chery Tiggo.
After easy wins in the first two sets, the Crossovers were pushed to the limit in the third set, where they trail 22-23 following a conversion from Chameleons’ Jhoanna Maraguinot.
Chery Tiggo’s Ma. Shaya Adorador went off the block to tie the score at 23-all before they won the match on an attack error by NxLed’s Trisha Genesis and a backrow attack from Bell.
“Malaking bagay na panalo kasi nga galing kami dun sa straight–set din na game nung first game namin. Syempre mas maganda na ‘yung nakakauna eh, para at least ‘yung momentum bitbit namin,” said Chery Tiggo head coach Emilio Reyes.
American Meegan Hart finished with nine points, while Lycha Ebon and Maraguinot chipped in eight and seven markers, respectively, for the Chameleons, which dropped to 1-1./PN
