BACOLOD City – Let’s Go Strived–CSA-B and Supreme ABF/Silvergraces maintained their unblemished slates in the 1st United Negros Basketball League (UNBL) Open Tournament over the weekend at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gymnasium here.
Let’s Go Strived–CSA-B leaned on the exploits of former San Beda University Red Lions center Arnaud Noah in the fourth quarter to score a 96-81 victory over Team Davies Paint-LCC-B.
The Cameroonian reinforcement drilled 11 of his 21 points total in the fourth quarter as Let’s Go Strived-CSA-B turned a 69-65 third quarter deficit to their largest advantage of 15 markers.
Harvey Eslawa and Jemar Cepriano chipped in 18 markers apiece, while Allen Delagente contributed 10 points for Let’s Go Strived. Kenjay Sarco and Kent Macalalag led Team Davies with 12 markers apiece.
Supreme ABF/SilverGraces, meanwhile, turned things around in the second quarter en route to an 84-73 victory over Tea Tas/Puff Boss behind the offensive tandem of Frederick Elombi and Randy Colonia.
Down 21-25 after the first 10 minutes, Supreme ABF/SilverGraces rode on the exploits of Elombi and Colonia to take a 47-40 halftime lead before widening it further to 65-52 in the third period after a Jaycee Adjel conversion.
Tea Tas/Puff Boss, meanwhile, mustered a huge fourth quarter run behind Cedrick Debide to cut the deficit to four points but Supreme ABF/SilverGraces got baskets from Ramer Javillo and Adjel to seal the victory.
Elombi top-scored for the Supreme ABF/SilverGraces with 18 points, while Colonia and Adjel chipped in 13 markers apiece. Debide, Junior Essaka and Kingpee dela Cruz combined for 29 points for the losing team.
Let’s Go Strived–CSA-B and Supreme ABF/SilverGraces closed the weekend with their third win in as many matches after defeating University of St. La Salle Stingers (0-3), 69-66, and Team Davies (1-2), 88-75, respectively.
Acster Marketing, meanwhile, handed RA-AK Transport their first defeat with a 74-71 escape as both teams now sport a 2-1 record. UNO-R Red House Taiwan Shabu Shabu notched its first win in three games after a 104-87 beating of Tea Tas (0-3)./PN
