BACOLOD City — Central Philippine State University absorbed its second loss in as many starts in Class A men as the Michael Larroza-led Eagles of Colegio San Agustin–Bacolod scored a 25-14, 25-18, 25-16 victory over the San Carlos City-based squad in the second weekend of the 6th Bro. Ceci Memorial Cup Interclub Volleyball Championships at the University of Saint La Salle’s (USLS) Dizon Covered Court here.
Class B women category started with Silay City beating its counterpart from La Carlota City 26-2, 25-18, 22-25, 29-27.
The lady volley belles from La Carlota relied on their younger legs to beat the game employees from the Provincial Capitol 25-23, 19-25, 25-20, 25-9.
The Provincial Capitol, however, defeated Howling Wolves Club of Carlos Hilado Memorial State College–Alijis in a come-from-behind win 22-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-18 in the afternoon.
A defending titlist, the Silay City spikers likewise used their fresher collegiate experience to book a 25-17, 25-21, 25-19 victory over USLS Sabado Club of Coach Malot Lozada in 50 minutes.
In Class A men, USLS B lost to University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos, 25-13, 17-25, 29-19, 22-25, and 15-8, but USLS A scored against Carlos Hilado Memorial State College–Talisay City, 25-13, 25-14 and 25-15.
In Class A women, USLS A defeated Colegio San Agustin–Bacolod, 25-20, 25-18 and 28-26.
In Class B men, Provincial Capitol defeated Silay City, 27-25, 27-25 and 25-14, while LST Volleyball Club lost the first set, 25-27, but came back in the succeeding sets, 25-20, 25-22 and 25-21.
In Class B women, Silay City crushed La Carlota City, 25-14, 25-12 and 25-12.
In Class C high school girls, St. John’s Institute won against Trinity Christian School, 25-16 and 25-18.
On September 5 to 7, teams from Iloilo Doctors’ College and Central Philippine University in Iloilo City and Dumaguete City’s Foundation University will also vie for the championship in both men and women categories.
