COLEGIO de Santa Ana de Victorias Titans claimed its second straight NOPSSCEA Season 38 men’s basketball crown after beating STI-West Negros University Mustangs in the do-or-die Game 3 at the STI-WNU Gym.
Led by Jeffrey Manday, Carl Magbanua and Junior Essakadoualla, the Titans made sure that the Mustangs will not be able to pull off an upset with a strong showing from start to finish.
The Titans immediately dictated the tempo of the game from the start behind the outside sniping of Manday and inside shots from Essakadoualla before preventing the Mustang from making a fight back.
The Titans, which recently represented the Western Visayas in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League, drew first blood in the race-to-three finale with a 73-65 domination of the Mustangs.
The Mustangs, however, was able to stretch the match to a do-or-die game with a 70-68 escape over the Titans in Game 2 behind the collective efforts of Charry Cadase and Aldave Canoy.
With the victory, the Titans is set to represent the NOPSSCEA in the 2018 Palarong Panlalawigan men’s basketball for a right to play in Western Visayas Regional Athletiic Association Meet next year./PN
