Culasi village chief, 4 others arrested for violating ECQ

SAN JOSE, Antique – A barangay captain and four other persons were arrested for violating enhanced community quarantine orders at a warehouse in Barangay Centro Norte, Culasi Antique.

Culasi municipal police station Captain Bryan Alamo said the warehouse is owned by town mayor Jeffrey Lomugdang.

Police identified the violators as the following:

*Julius Eric Tamba, village chief of Barangay Jalandoni, Culasi
*Avelino Bermudez, tricycle driver of Barangay Jalandoni
*Llyod Eric Salazar, PUV driver of Barangay Jalandoni
*Rafael Cabangon, tricycle driver of Barangay Centro Norte

*Frenz Roy Lomugdang, of Barangay Fe and driver of the mayor.
According to Alamo, the mayor sent him text messages requesting police to check his warehouse after the latter received reports that his driver, who was celebrating his birthday, and some outsiders were having a drinking spree there on April 12.

“I hope that today’s arrest will serve as an example or warning to other people in this town who are still stubborn.” Alamo said.
The violators were detained in the lockup cell of the Culasi municipal police station.

Charges for violation of Executive Order 21, series of 2020, or the Enhanced Community Quarantine Policy on Liquor Ban and Unauthorized Gathering and for violation of Republic Act 11332 will be filed against the suspects./PN
