Customs collects P79.5B in September

THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) collected P79.5 billion in September, overshooting its collection goal for the period on the back of implementing stringent border control measures.

In a statement yesterday, the BOC said September’s revenue surpassed the agency’s target by P17.6 billion or 28.4%.

The agency said its collection last month also improved by 38.1% year-on-year.

“With the stringent implementation of border control measures, Commissioner [Yogi Filemon] Ruiz continuously drives the Bureau to plug revenue leakages and strengthen the nation’s trade facilitation and revenue collection performance,” the Customs said.

The BOC’s year-to-date collection stood at P638.7 billion, 17.8% above its goal for the January to September period and P168.9 billion or 35.9% higher year-on-year.

“Customs Commissioner Ruiz continues to push all BOC offices and collection districts to sustain the exceptional performance of the bureau throughout the year by taking advantage of the BOC’s modernization programs and enhanced reform initiatives aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s eight-point Socioeconomic Program,” the Customs said.
