MANILA – The Bureau of Customs on Thursday said it exceeded its April revenue target by 2 percent due to the implementation of improved valuation and tariff classification.
The agency said it collected P47.4 billion last month, nearly P1 billion more than the P46.5 billion goal. Collections in April were also 50.4 percent higher compared to the same period in 2017.
“We only just have to apply the correct valuation and collect what is due the government. I think we can continue this trend until December,” Customs chief Isidro Lapeña said in a statement.
Higher oil prices and the peso’s weakness against the dollar helped boost the value of collections in April, the bureau said. (ABS-CBN News)
