ROXAS CITY – The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Western Visayas assures support to all marginalized farmers and fisherfolk in Capiz.
“We will provide the necessary interventions for you with the support of the provincial government,” said DA regional executive director Remelyn Recoter during the 12th Provincial Farmers and Fisherfolk’s Day celebration on Thursday.
Recoter led the turnover of P5-million loan fund to Lonoy Agrarian Reform Cooperative in Ivisan and Sapi-an towns.
“Support to easy access financing is one of the DA’s priorities,” she said.
Recoter noted the Capiz farmers will also get a fair share of the 45 units of farm machinery to be turned over on April 23 in Iloilo City.
“Sec. Piñol will lead the distribution of rice combine harvester, hand tractor, transplanter, and granulator to qualified farmers’ associations,” she said.
Recoter also urged the farmers to sell their palay produce to the National Food Authority for buffer stocking.
“Rest assured that we will support our farmers amid the rice liberalization,” Recoter stressed.
Capiz governor Antonio del Rosario also signified the provincial government’s initiatives to safeguard the farmers and fisherfolk amid the different crisis confronting the agriculture sector.
“Ginakamaayo sang probinsya sang Capiz ang tabang nga pwede mahatag sa mga mangunguma kag mangingisda sa bulig sang DA,” del Rosario said. (With a report from DA Western Visayas/PN)
