MANILA – The Department of Agriculture on Monday imposed the suggested retail prices (SRP) of select agricultural products in Metro Manila.
According to a report on GMA News’ “News to Go,” the DA implemented the SRP of regular-milled rice at P39 per kilogram.
The other products are:
- milkfish or bangus – P150 per kg
- tilapia – P100 per kg
- galunggong – P140 per kilo
- red onion – P95 per kg
- white onion – P75 per kg
- imported garlic – P70 per kilo
Citing Agriculture secretary Emmanuel Piñol, the report noted that the SRP would vary per region as location is a factor in setting prices. Areas near ports would have lower prices of fish while those near vegetable farms would have lower prices of vegetables.
With the SRP in place, prices of goods may only go up by a maximum of 10 percent from the suggested price.
Those who violate the SRP may face fines ranging from P1,000 to P1 million, in accordance with the anti-profiteering law. (GMA News)
