ILOILO – Today starts the weeklong “Dagyang sa Kapitolyo” at the Iloilo provincial capitol.
This activity will take the place of the food festival held on the capitol grounds in past editions of the annual Dinagyang Festival, said Atty. Suzette Mamon, provincial administrator.
The provincial government has scrapped the food festival to protect the newly redeveloped capitol grounds.
The “Dagyang sa Kapitolyo” at Casal Real de Iloilo (old provincial capitol) will be a fun filled festival of art, music, food, and culture, said Mamon.
Today, a trade exhibit of local products will be opened at the Casa Real de Iloilo lobby.
“Beginning Jan. 23 our coffee shop and bar will open at Casa Real. We’ll have a live band entertaining people,” said Mamon.
There will also be a tattoo booth.
The Grand Ballroom of Casa Real de Iloilo, on the other hand, will host a painting exhibit of local artists.
Other “Dagyang sa Kapitolyo” are zumba, encore performance of capitol employees that joined the “Dance of the Decade” contest during the capitol Christmas party, and sadsad or street dancing at 7 p.m.
“Dagyang sa Kapitolyo is open to everybody. There is no entrance fee,” said Mamon./PN
