DAMIAN Lillard and Tyrese Haliburton caught fire from the outside as the East All-Stars prevailed over West All-Stars, 211-186, in the 2024 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday night (Monday in the Philippines) at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Lillard unloaded 11 triples, including those from way behind the three-point arc, to finish with 39 points, earning him the NBA All-Star Most Valuable Player award.

It was the Milwaukee Bucks star’s second trophy in the three-day festivity after successfully defending his Three-Point Shootout crown on Saturday night (Sunday in the Philippines).

Tyrese Haliburton added 32 points with 10 outside shots, half of which came in the first quarter to set the tone for the lopsided victory by the Doc Rivers-mentored East All-Star.

Jaylen Brown chipped in 36 points, with six outside shots, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jason Tatum chipped in 23 and 20 points, respectively, while Scottie Barnes, Jalen Brunson, and Tyrese Maxey ended with 16, 12, and 10, respectively.

Down 5-10 early in the game, Haliburton caught fire with five three-point conversions followed by outside connections from Lillard, Brown, and Maxey for a 53-47 lead.

Lillard continued his hot outside shooting in the second frame, while Antetokounmpo, Barnes, and Brunson managed to convert from inside as East widened the lead to 104-89 at the half.

Lillard maintained his aggression for East in the third frame with 11 early points before Brown went to work with his inside and outside shots for a 160-136 advantage.

West tried to claw their way back in the final quarter behind volume points from Karl-Anthony Towns, but Lillard heated up anew from outside as the East runaway with a lopsided win.

Towns top-scored for West with 50 points, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 31 markers, while Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Devin Booker ended with 18, 16, and 14 markers, respectively./PN
