Dance instructor yields ‘shabu’

ILOILO City – A dance instructor was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Airport, Mandurriao district.

Dezi John Brillantes, 47, of Barangay Monica-Blumentritt, Iloilo City Proper, sold suspected shabu for P6,000 to a police poseur buyer around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28.

A total of 15 grams of suspected shabu valued at P102,000 were recovered.

The antidrug operation was conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit, led by officer-in-charge Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Benitez Jr. and Captain Roque Gimeno III, team leader.

Gimeno, in an interview with Radyo Bandera Iloilo, said they have been monitoring the suspect for more than two weeks.

“Gina-deliver niya kun may mabakal and sometimes gina pa-pick-up niya man, gaan mo siya GCash ibilin niya,” Gimeno added.

Brillantes is being held at the Iloilo City Police Station 5 (Mandurriao) and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
