With her younger sister Julia Barretto involved in one of the hottest trending topics in showbiz recently, Dani Barretto revealed that their family has gotten closer than ever in order to help her overcome the issue linking her to the Gerald Anderson and Bea Alonzo break up.
“Always naman whenever our family has issues, parang kahit isa yung natamaan, natatamaan talaga lahat kasi we’re a close-knit family. So hindi maiiwasan na hindi rin kami masasaktan. Everybody knows, I’m a very protective sister. I will always fight whoever. Lalo na pag alam kong nasa tama yung kapatid ko. But it has affected us in a way I guess na pag kasi nakikita mong nasasaktan ang isang tao, nasasaktan ka rin. Pero bilang nakakatanda, kailangan ikaw yung magpapakita ng strength sa kaniya para meron siyang pinanghuhugutan,” she said during the Cetaphil National Healthy Skin Mission event held in SM Makati last August 17.
Dani shared that she is proud of how her sister is showing how mature and strong she is with all the accusations being hurled at her online.
“Matapang si Julia. She’s such a fighter. Parang to be honest, ang dami na niyang pinagdaanan, napakabata niya pa, pero sobrang ‘pag nakikita mo siya parang ang galing niya. Not naman mag-mask ng emotions pero dalang dala niya yung sarili niya. Alam niya kung saan niya ilulugar yung nararamdaman niya. Hindi siya nagpapakita ng weakness sa harap namin. Kahit sa amin. There are times, of course naman kailangan. Kasi sa amin lang naman niya mapapakita yun eh. Pero lagi niyang sinasabi, ‘I can do this.’ Naniniwala naman kaming kaya niya. Kinakaya niya,” she explained.
After defending Julia online, Dani added she also had to bear the brunt of some of the bashing but is not bothered by the backlash.
“The funny thing is, when you defend your sister you get bashed for it. Apparently in this country it’s not allowed. But it’s okay. I can take it. I don’t regret anything. Kahit pinagpiyestahan ako for awhile online, I don’t regret doing it. Kapatid ko yun, ipagtatanggol ko yun hanggang kamatayan so it’s okay,” she admitted. (Push)
