BACOLOD City – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Region VI – Negros Occidental North office, through its Gender and Development program, held an outreach program for persons with disabilities (PWDs) within the Silay-Talisay agrarian reform communities on Nov. 13.
The activity which was held at the Silay City Civic and Cultural Center, gathered a total of 54 PWDs, including some children and their guardians.
OIC Social Welfare and Development officer Soraya Leda interacted with the ARBs (agrarian reform beneficiaries) and briefed the PWDs on their rights and privileges based on the Magna Carta for PWDs, or Republic Act 7277.
After the forum, DAR OIC chief administrative officer Leony Lamela led the distribution of gift packs, which included grocery items.
Municipal agrarian reform program officers of Silay and Talisay were also present during the activity. (PIA/PN)
