THE Department of Agriculture is helping small and medium broiler raisers who have been severely affected by the huge drop in farmgate prices of chicken.
Based on the latest report from the United Broilers Raisers Association (UBRA,) the farmgate price of chicken has dropped to as low as P32 per kilo in Pangasinan, Laguna, Batangas and Cavite.
As of Apr. 3, 2020, the average farmgate price for prime-sized chickens is P38.46 per kilo.
Agriculture Secretary William Dar said the DA has talked to a private entity to help small and medium broiler raisers.
“If at the present time ay wala pa silang cold storage, we will partner with them.
When asked for his comment, UBRA president Attorney Jose Elias Enciong texted, “Sana nga.”(GMA News)
