ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. has formally appointed Cynthia Parcon-Dario as the new head of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) for Iloilo Province.
Dario’s appointment took effect on December 27, 2024, and was officially conferred by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) on January 7, 2025.
Before her appointment, Dario served as acting head of the PESO while at the same serving as its Supervising Labor and Employment Officer.
Dario succeeds Francisco Heler Jr., the former PESO-Iloilo head, who retired on August 16, 2024.
“I am thankful for the trust and confidence given to me by Governor Defensor, and I hope to match or even surpass the performance of my former boss. At PESO, we continuously work on conceptualizing programs for employment facilitation and protection,” Dario told Panay News.
Dario plans to focus on programs addressing the concerns of Ilonggo overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and providing assistance where needed. She also aims to expand the data gathering and banking system, in line with the governor’s vision.
“We want to establish a data banking system so that when employers or investors inquire about a particular area, the governor can request data directly from PESO. We have started this, but we aim to improve how we collect and generate the data needed by our governor,” Dario said./PN
