THE Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) recently deployed an automated teller machine (ATM) to the main island of Romblon province as part of its thrust to promote financial inclusion in unbanked and underserved areas of the country.
DBP president and chief executive officer Emmanuel G. Herbosa said that the DBP-ATM installed at the municipal hall of San Agustin, Romblon will serve the banking needs of more than 46,000 residents in Tablas island.
“This ATM is in furtherance of our efforts to support the National Government’s thrust of promoting financial inclusivity in unbanked and underserved communities across the country,” he said.
The ATM will serve the underbanked municipality of San Agustin, Romblon and the nearby unbanked municipalities of Sta. Maria, Alcantara, and Calatrava. The largest of the three islands comprising the province of Romblon, Tablas is composed of nine municipalities including the provincial capital of Odiongan.
The installation and blessing of the ATM was attended by town officials led by San Agustin, Romblon municipal mayor Esteban F. Madrona and DBP officials headed by DBP Romblon branch head Jose Gilbert O. Rabuel./PN
