DBP extends financial assistance to Taal-hit areas

STATE-OWNED Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) donated a total of P3,000,000.00 to Taal-hit areas in the provinces of Batangas and Cavite as part of its continuing support in the disaster-relief and rehabilitation efforts of displaced communities and families in the two provinces that were severely affected by the Taal Volcano eruption.

Based on estimates of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), 584,236 people have been affected by the volcanic eruptions in the CALABARZON region.

On the other hand, agricultural and infrastructure damages was placed at over P3.4-billion as of the latest NDRRMC report.

Both provinces were declared under a state of calamity due to the extent of damages and casualties suffered from Taal Volcano’s unrest./PN
