BACOLOD City – The De La Salle group won the grand finals of the 4th VTI Chorale Competition at the SMX Convention Center on Dec. 19.
The Visayan Maritime Academy Chorale won first runner-up while the Vocal Workout Chorale won second runner-up, and the Pavia National High School Chorale, third runner-up.
The champion received P100,000 cash. The first, second and third runners-up received P60,000, P40,000 and P20,000, respectively.
There were 12 participating chorale groups during the eliminations held on Dec. 8 but only seven qualified to the grand finals, said Jesidith Marquez Seballos, legal and media relations manager of VTI (Vallacar Transit, Inc.).
Other competing groups were the Technological University of the Philippines-Talisay, the Negros Oriental Music Society and the San Diego Charismatic.
The theme of this year’s competition was “The Greatest Showman.”
Seballos said they plan to make the VTI Chorale Competition a nationwide contest./PN
