ILONGGO chess players dominated the 15 and Under and Dalawahan categories in the Cabatuan Cup Rapid Chess Championship at the covered gym in Cabatuan, Iloilo.

Iloilo City native Adrian De Luna claimed the 15 and Under title on Sunday with 5.5 points. Passi City native Kurt Kevin Ladot and Clark Ken Pelione trailed behind with 4 points each.

PJ Macaspac was given a special citation for being the youngest player in 15 and Under while MY Adolacion was hailed the Best Female Player for finishing within top 10.

De Luna received a P2,000 cash prize, a trophy and a certificate. Ladot had P1,500 cash, medal and certificate, while Pelione had P1,000 cash, medal and certificate. Adolacion and Macaspac each had P500 cash, medal and certificate.

John Franz de Asis and Alex Provido of Dios Gugma, meanwhile, won the Dalawahan with 5.5 points after six rounds.

On second place were Patrick Panaligan and Nonoy Tecson of Team Pulang Araw. Behind them were Carlito Lavega and Rosendo Reyes of Team Ice Chess Center, and Mark Mariano and Lemuel Rodriguez of Team Jaro-Cabatuan.

De Asis and Provido received P3,000 cash, a trophy and a certificate.

Panaligan and Tecson had P2,000 and certificate; Lavega and Reyes, P1,500 and certificate; and Mariano and Rodriguez, P500 and certificate./PN
