MANILA – Veteran midfielder Carlos “Carli” de Murga and Negrense Charles Baberan have departed from PFL Club, Ceres-Negros FC, ahead of the start of its campaign in the AFC Champions League group stage qualifier.
In an announcement made on their social media accounts on Wednesday, the Busmen said that De Murga and Baberan will not be part of the team’s competition this year.
The 31-year-old De Murga ended his five-year stay with the Negros Occidental-based football club after agreeing to a deal with the Chonburi FC in the Thai League 1 at the start of the year.
In his five years of stay with the Ceres-Negros, De Murga won a championship in the defunct United Football League (UFL) and four at the Philippines Football League (PFL). He also suited up for fellow UFL and PFL Global FC prior to the Busmen.
Baberan, on the other hand, was a former standout of the University of St. La Salle Bacolod Football squad before he joined the Busmen on August, 2019.
De Murga and Baberan were the second and third players to bid farewell to Ceres-Negros this offseason aside from midfielder Miguel Tanton.
The departure of the three, however, will not affect the team that much after they signed up Thai-based Filipino free agents Hikaru Minegishi, Joshua Grommen, Mark Hartmann and Negrense Arnie Pasinabo from KAYA FC of the PFL./PN
